- Mrs. Nellie R[uth] C. [for maiden
name, CAMPBELL] SHAW, the widow of the
- late Dr. Edwin Ben SHAW of Milton
College, died early Monday morning, Sept. 3, in Mercy Hospital,
where she had been taken following a stroke on Sunday night.
- Mrs. SHAW was born in Cambridge,
Wis., November 6, 1870, the daughter of Mr.
- and Mrs. Jay CAMPBELL, early
settlers of Dane County. She attended Milton Academy and a Janesville
business school, and taught in rural schools before her marriage
July 24, 1895. With the exception of 14 years in Plainfield,
N.J., she had made her home in Milton.
- She was a charter member of the Milton
W.V.I. club, and a member of the Past
- Presidents. She was a member of the
Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church.
- She is survived by two sons and two
daughters: Leland C. SHAW, Elston E.
- SHAW,
Mrs. Constance BINGHAM and Stephana SHAW, all of
Milton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two
of her five sisters also survive: Mrs. Edith GREENE of
Seattle, Wash., and Miss Myra CAMPBELL of Janesville.
- Funeral services were held in the Milton
church, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock,
- conducted by the Rev. Elmo Fitz Randolph.
Pallbearers were her nephews: Jay TAYLOR, Frank TAYLOR,
Irving McEWAN, Myron WEST, Robert DORR and
John WETMORE. Burial was in the Milton cemetery. [p.
