- Funeral services for Etta M. NELSON,
who died Sunday night, May 31, in a Denver
- (Colo.) Hospital following surgery,
were held in the Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton Junction, at 1:30
p.m. Thursday, June 4. Elder Elmer Rasmussen of the Seventh-day
Adventist Church officiated and Lorie PURDEY sang "Beyond
the Sunset." Burial was in Milton Cemetery, pallbearers
being Albert JOHNSON, Alvin NELSON, Orville OLSON
and Sherill RASMUSSEN.
- Etta Mercedes PATTERSON, daughter
of John and Ella CLARKE PATTERSON,
- was born Sept. 23, 1887, in Milton.
In 1908, she married Clifford NELSON in Milton. They resided
at Poy Sippi and Clear Lake (Polk County) and in 1919 Mr. NELSON
died at Clear Lake. Besides residing in Milton Junction a number
of years, Mrs. NELSON lived in Madison while her daughter
Olive (now Mrs. James CAREY of 3254 Karen Ave., Long Beach
8, Calif.) attended the state university. After leaving Wisconsin,
Mrs. NELSON had been in California but more recently had
been keeping house for her brother, Archie PATTERSON in
Denver, following the death of his wife last January.
- Survivors are the daughter, Mrs. CAREY,
and the brother, Mr. PATTERSON, who
- accompanied the body here, and a sister,
Mary ERHART of Rockford; also three grandchildren. A daughter,
Jeanette NELSON, died in 1947. [Thursday edition, p.

- Funeral services were held at 3 p.m.
Monday in the Albrecht Funeral Home for Mrs.
- Russell H. SAUNDERS, Milton,
who had died Friday, in a Janesville nursing home following several
months illness. The Rev. W. S. CARR, an old friend, officiated
and was assisted by Rev. Talmage HARTMAN. Kenneth A. BABCOCK
gave the song service. Burial was in Milton Cemetery, pallbearers
being Fred MORI, Steven SUMMERS, Charles HUBBARD,
E. T. SHUMWAY, Elwyn JOHNSON and Harvey JOHNSON.
- Lizzie [Elizabeth] M., daughter of
Harrad and Mrs. Mary THOMPSON JACKSON,
- was born June 29, 1870, in Spaulding,
England. While she was a child, the family came to the United
States and stopped at the home of her maternal grandmother at
Hampton, now known as Westmoreland, N. Y. Mr. JACKSON
came west to Chicago and there heard of Milton, Wis. and came
here. Eventually he went into the meat business and brought the
family here.
- On Oct. 16, 1913, Miss JACKSON
married Russell H. SAUNDERS, Milton, who
- preceded her in death. For many years
she was organist in Milton Methodist church. More recently she
had been a member of the Congregational Church, Milton.
- Survivors include two sisters, Mrs.
Ira (Ann) McNITT and Mrs. S. S. (Nellie)
- SUMMERS,
both of Milton; and a brother, Dr. Hartley H. T. JACKSON,
Chevy Chase, Md. A brother, George Edward (Ted) JACKSON
and twin sisters, Eva Jane and Sarah Susan, preceded her. [Thursday
