Mrs. Louis A. BABCOCK, 84, a resident of Milton for more than 50 years, died
early Wednesday morning at Edgerton Memorial Hospital.
Lettie L. LANPHERE was born in Albion, Wis., on August 19, 1875. She was
baptized at the age of nine years by the Rev. Simeon H. BABCOCK, later to become her father-in-law.
At 12 years of age her family moved to Hammond, La. Here she was married to
Louis A. BABCOCK on August 13, 1896. In 1899 she and her husband and son returned to Wisconsin, living in Albion for a few years, when they moved to Milton. As a member of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church she was active in the Women's Circle and especially in the Sabbath School, where she was superintendent of the primary department.
She was at one time president of the Women's Village Improvement Club and at the
time of her death was a member of the past presidents group of the club.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 12, 1955. The surviving relatives
are: a daughter, Mrs. Paul BLACKBOURN, Elgin, Ill., two sons, Laurance of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Kenneth, Milton, a sister, Mrs. Edward LEE of Columbus, Ind., a sister-in-law, Mrs. Herbert C. VAN HORN, Milton, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Saturday,
Jan. 9, the Rev. Elmo F. Randolph officiating. The body will lie in state in the church parlor from 12:30 until 3:00 o'clock. Burial will be in the Milton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton Junction, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening, Jan 8. [Thursday edition, p. 1]

Funeral services were to be held today, Thursday, at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Edith DRAKE,
84, longtime Milton resident who died Monday evening in Edgerton Hospital after a short illness.
Rev. Elmo F. Randolph will officiate at the services to be held from the Milton Seventh
Day Baptist Church. Burial will be in Walworth cemetery.
Mrs. DRAKE, the former Edith [Jessie] MAIN, was born in Nebraska March 4,
1875, the daughter of Elisha and Orcelia SAUNDERS MAIN. She was married to Ervin DRAKE of Albion on June 15, 1895. Mr. DRAKE preceded her in death 10 years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Florence LYONS, Eagle River; two sons, Howard, of
Milton Junction, and Arthur, of Milton; a brother, Louis MAIN, Rock Island, Ill,; a sister, Mrs. Nettie HIBBARD, Walworth; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A daughter, Alma, preceded her in death. [Thursday edition, p. 1]

Ross C. COON, 76, retired Milton businessman, died Sunday morning in Natchez,
Miss., after a brief illness. He and Mrs. COON were visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard PLACE.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church,
the Rev. Elmo Fitz Randolph officiating.
The son of George W. and May Adelle COON, he was born April 22, 1883, at Utica.
He attended Milton College.
Mr. COON operated a general insurance business here and was active in civic affairs.
He held offices in the Odd Fellows Lodge and was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Maude WHITTET; a son, Grant W., of Palo Alto,
Calif., and a daughter, Mrs. PLACE, of Natchez. [Thursday edition, p. 1]

Mrs. Myrtie [E.] MALTPRESS, 92, lifelong Milton Junction resident and one of the
villages oldest citizens, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Mercy Hospital, Janesville, after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Milton Junction Seventh Day
Baptist Church with Rev. Victor Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in Milton Junction cemetery.
Mrs. MALTPRESS was born Nov. 25, 1867, in Rock county, the daughter of Cyrus
and Elizabeth HOFFMAN FRINK. On Nov. 26, 1890, she was married to George MALTPRESS who preceded her in death in 1948.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
