- Archie R[ay] HURLEY, 81, Milton,
died Monday, Sept. 20, in Mercy Hospital,
- Janesville, after an illness of several
months.
- He was born Sept. 10, 1884, in Welton,
Iowa, the son of John and Athalia
- VAN HORN
HURLEY. He was married there Jan. 1, 1914, to the former
Bernice BURDICK, whose father, Rev. BURDICK officiated
at their marriage. They came to Milton in 1915.
- He was a member of the Milton Seventh
Day Baptist Church where he had served as
- a deacon since 1936. Prior to his
retirement in 1954, he had been employed for 32 years at the
BURDICK corporation. Mr. HURLEY also had attended
Milton College.
- Surviving are his wife; a daughter,
Mrs. O. W. HARRIS of Carroll, Iowa; two
- grandsons, Joe and Michael; two brothers,
Francis H. of Riverside, Calif., and Victor of Milton; one sister,
Miss Dora L. HURLEY, Riverside, Calif. A brother P.
B. HURLEY, and a sister, Mrs. Iva BLISS, predeceased
him.
- Funeral services were to be held today,
Thursday, Sept. 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the Milton
- Seventh Day Baptist Church, the Rev.
Elmo Fitz Randolph officiating. Burial will be in the Milton
Cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
