Archie R[ay] HURLEY, 81, Milton, died Monday, Sept. 20, in Mercy Hospital,
Janesville, after an illness of several months.
He was born Sept. 10, 1884, in Welton, Iowa, the son of John and Athalia
VAN HORN HURLEY. He was married there Jan. 1, 1914, to the former Bernice BURDICK, whose father, Rev. BURDICK officiated at their marriage. They came to Milton in 1915.
He was a member of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church where he had served as
a deacon since 1936. Prior to his retirement in 1954, he had been employed for 32 years at the BURDICK corporation. Mr. HURLEY also had attended Milton College.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. O. W. HARRIS of Carroll, Iowa; two
grandsons, Joe and Michael; two brothers, Francis H. of Riverside, Calif., and Victor of Milton; one sister, Miss Dora L. HURLEY, Riverside, Calif. A brother P. B. HURLEY, and a sister, Mrs. Iva BLISS, predeceased him.
Funeral services were to be held today, Thursday, Sept. 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the Milton
Seventh Day Baptist Church, the Rev. Elmo Fitz Randolph officiating. Burial will be in the Milton Cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
