Dr. Milton Daland DAVIS, 64, Milton's widely loved family doctor and civic leader
for the past 35 years, died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday morning as he was preparing to leave for another full day at the office. Cause of death was a heart attack.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete as of press time Wednesday but services were
tentatively set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Dr. DAVIS had served as president of the Milton College board of trustees, the
Milton College Alumni association, the Milton Historical Society and the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church. Professionally he had been president of the Rock County Medical Society, the Mercy Hospital medical staff and the Edgerton Memorial Community Hospital medical staff.
He was currently a member of the claims commission of the Wisconsin Physicians
Service and for several years had served as counsellor for the third district of the State Medical Society. He was also a member of the Milton Kiwanis Club.
He was born Oct. 22, 1902, at West Edmeston, N.Y., the son of Dr. Arnold and
Carrie DAVIS.
He was married in Milton Sept. 22, 1926 to Jessie POST, daughter of Dr. and Mrs.
George POST of Milton.
A graduate of Milton College, he attended medical school at the University of
Wisconsin and Northwestern University. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1931 from Northwestern.
He entered practice here in 1932 in partnership with Dr. George CROSLEY and had
several other partners for short periods during his years of practice before World War II. He served as a Captain in the Army Medical Corps from 1942 to 1945, serving both in the U. S. and in the South Pacific.
He returned to Milton after the war and entered partnership with Dr. H. Laurence
BURDICK in 1946. The two doctors have practiced in partnership since that time although Dr. DAVIS has had only part time assistance the past three months while Dr. BURDICK has been recuperating from a serious illness.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie; one son, Milton Daland DAVIS Jr., a corporal in
the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and a grandson, Christopher.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Albrecht Funeral Home. No visitation is
