- Vernon L. LOOFBORO, 58, of Rockton,
Ill., died Monday, Sept. 16.
- His body was found Friday morning,
Sept. 20 a short distance from his parked car
- near the public hunting grounds at
Lima Center, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, deputies
reported.
- He was born Dec. 27, 1915, at Welton,
Iowa, attended public schools in Milton, and
- was a 1937 graduate of Milton College.
He had been associated with Gardner Machine Co. since 1940,
except for the years he served as a lieutenant in the Navy during
World War II. He became general manager of the company in 1956
and had served as executive vice-president and president. LOOFBORO
was also on the board of directors of the First National Bank
and Trust Co., Beloit.
- Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Bertha
REYELTS LOOFBORO, Milton; two
- brothers, Lewis, Janesville; and Winston,
Beloit; three sisters, Mrs. Roger JOHNSON, Parsons, Kansas;
Mrs. A. W. ANDERSON, Janesville; and Mrs. Evelyn RASMUSSEN,
Milwaukee.
- Graveside services were conducted by
the Rev. Earl Cruzan of the Milton Seventh
- Day Baptist Church, Saturday, Sept.
21 in the Milton Cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 6]
