- Miss Ardis Lorena BENNETT, 75,
a retired registered nurse, 238 East Madison
- Ave., Milton, died Thursday morning,
Dec. 12, at Mercy Hospital, Janesville, after a short illness.
- Miss BENNETT was born in the
town of Lima, Nov. 25, 1899, the sixth of nine
- children born to James B. and Dollie
BROWN BENNETT.
- She was a graduate of Milton High School
and attended Milton College for two years
- where she was active in the musical
organizations of the college, after which she entered Mercy Hospital
School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1932 as a registered
nurse. She was employed as a private duty nurse at Mercy Hospital
and Edgerton Memorial Hospital, then for several years served
on the staff at University Hospitals, Madison, until retiring
in 1948 due to ill health. For the past three years she has
lived with her sister, Mrs. J. Fred WHITFORD, Milton.
- Miss BENNETT was a member of
the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church for more
- than 60 years.
- Surviving are three sisters, Mizpah,
Mrs. J. Fred WHITFORD, Milton; Constance,
- Mrs. Charles F. SUTTON, Springfield,
Ill. and Clarice, Mrs. Harold C. BURDICK, Raytown, Mo.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
- Funeral services were held at 3 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 14 from the church, with Rev.
- Earl Cruzan officiating.
- Burial was in the Milton Cemetery with
Erlo NELSON, Howard DRAKE, J. Paul
- GREEN,
Elston SHAW, Arthur DRAKE and Raymond SHOLTZ
as pallbearers. Albrecht Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
