- David M[arion] GRAY, 60, 702
LaMar Drive, Milton, died unexpectedly Sunday,
- August 3, of an apparent heart attack
while visiting relatives in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the former
fire chief here and a senior member of the business community.
- He was born October 11, 1914 in the
town of Milton, the son of Earl and Eva
- McCULLOCH
GRAY and had been a lifelong resident of this area.
He was a 1932 graduate of Milton High School and had attended
Whitewater College.
- He married Gertrude HENSCH COLEMAN
Sept. 25, 1951 in Dubuque, Iowa.
- He was an active member of St. John's
Lutheran Church, Milton, serving as financial secretary for 10
years. He also served as fire chief of the Milton Junction
Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years.
- Mr. GRAY had been employed for
the past 37 years at Ace Hardware and the
- former Junction Hardware, and was one
of the best known men on the business street. He was also noted
as a versatile musician and had played trumpet for several musical
groups.
- Surviving are his wife, Gertrude; a
brother, Kay, Milton, and nieces and nephews. A
- brother, Bruce, preceded him in death.
- Services were held Wednesday, Aug.
6, at 2 p.m. from St. John's Lutheran Church
- with Rev. Myron Schwanke officiating.
Burial was in Milton Cemetery with Chester STRASSBURG,
Donald HILLESTAD, William PATTERSON, Edward GROSS,
George FRANK and Roger DAVIDSON as pallbearers.
