Mrs. K. Spence HOWARD, 39, of 27 Third St., died Friday at University Hospitals,
Madison, after a short illness. She became ill at home April 6 and was taken to Mercy Hospital, Janesville, and later transferred to Madison.
The former A[deline] Lee MIARS was born Oct. 15, 1937, at Jackson Center, Ohio,
the daughter of Granville and Cretora LEININGER MIARS, and was a graduate of Jackson Center High School and of Milton College in 1960.
Mrs. HOWARD taught third grade at Beloit Turner Elementary School for eight
years.
She was married to Mr. HOWARD in July 1958 in Milton, and was a member of
Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church, serving as church clerk, women's groups, and Milton Women's Golf League.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1958.
Surviving are her husband; her mother, Mrs. Cretora MIARS, Milton; a son Jeremy,
a sixth grader, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Don (Ilou) SANFORD, Milton, Mrs. Stanley (Joy) COLE, West Caldwell, N.J., Mrs. Neil (Carol) AIKEN, Burlington, and Mrs. Keith (Mary) BURDICK, Oconomowoc.
A memorial service was read at 2 p.m., Tuesday in the Seventh Day Baptist Church
following cremation. The Rev. Earl Cruzan officiated, assisted by Rev. Don SANFORD, Mrs. HOWARD's brother-in-law. [Thursday edition, p. 3]
