- Miss Marjorie J[anette] BURDICK,
80, Parkview Terrace Apartments, Milton, died
- Friday, July 1 in Mercy Hospital, Janesville,
following a long illness.
- She was born in Jackson Center, Ohio
on Dec. 25, 1896, the daughter of the late Rev.
- Willard D. BURDICK and Nettie
WEST BURDICK. She graduated from Milton Academy
in 1915 and from Milton College in 1919. She later received her
master's degree in religious education from Boston University.
She taught in elementary schools in New Jersey, Ohio, and Wisconsin
and for a number of years taught religious education in several
churches in New Jersey and Michigan. She was actively involved
in establishing and directing summer camping programs in the
Seventh Day Baptist denomination. She was also a member of the
Woman's Board for several years and was awarded the board's "Robe
of Achievement" in 1969 for outstanding service. In 1976
she received the "Gold-Headed- Cane" award given by
the Seventh Day Baptist Historical Society for her assistance
in the field of denominational history.
- Since her retirement from teaching
in the Milton elementary school, she has been active
- in tutoring, Boy Scout work, in the
Milton Historical Society, and in the work of the Seventh Day
Baptist Church of which she was a member and deaconess at the
time of her death. For many years she was a teacher in the primary
department of the Sabbath School.
- In 1976 she was honored by the Milton
Kiwanis Club as the "Citizen of the Year" in
- appreciation of her services to the
community.
- Surviving are a brother, Russell, many
nieces and nephews and cousins. A brother,
- William, predeceased her.
- A memorial service will be held Saturday,
July 10 at 3 p.m. in the Milton Seventh Day
- Baptist Church. Private burial will
take place after cremation. There will be no visitation. Memorials
may be made to the Seventh Day Baptist Church or the Milton Historical
Society. The family has requested that flowers be omitted.

- Mrs. F. A. ANDERSON, 86, 1109
Columbia Circle, Janesville, former vice
- president and director of the Burdick
Corporation, died July 9, at her home after a long illness.
- The former Anna Signe Christina BERGBOM,
was born Nov. 25, 1890, in
- Sexdrega, Sweden. She came to the United
States in June, 1909, and lived in Chicago until Sept. 14, 1914,
when she was married to Mr. ANDERSON, a native of Slatthult,
Sweden, and moved to Milton. Mr. ANDERSON, president of
the Burdick Corporation for many years, was chairman of the board
at the time of his death May 15, 1963.
- Mrs. ANDERSON attended North
Park College, Chicago, and was employed as a
- bookkeeper before coming to Milton.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ,
Milton, and had lived in Janesville since 1965.
- Surviving are a son, A. W. ANDERSON,
Janesville; five daughters, Genevieve, Mrs.
- F. A. (Doris) BOWEN, Mrs. LeRoy
(Lillie) MARKHAM, Janesville, Mrs. Robert (Bettie) LYMAN,
Milton, and Mrs. Philip (Barbara) SCHROEDER, Wellesley
Hills, Mass., a sister, Mrs. Hildur SANDBERG, of Sweden,
16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
- Services were held Monday, July 11,
at First Congregational Church with burial in
- Milton Cemetery.
- Officiating were the Rev. James Mohr,
pastor of the church, and the Rev. J. Wilson
- Emigholz, Muscoda, former pastor. Armour
ANDREWS, Rockford, a nephew of the diseased, sang two
selections: "He, The Pearly Gates Will Open," and "Day
by Day."
- Pallbearers were grandsons: Philip,
James and Gregory ANDERSON, John and
- Robert MARKHAM, Thomas BOWEN
and Kenneth SCHROEDER.
- Memorials may be made to the Regions
Beyond Missionary Union, 8102 Elberon
- Ave., Philadelphia, Pa., 19111, or
to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Milton.
The Regions Beyond Missionary Union supports the work of Clara
and Gudrun LIMA, former Milton residents, who are missionaries
stationed in Kalimatan, Barat, Indonesia.
- Arrangements were handled by the Albrecht
