- Vera [Evelyn] COON SHAW, 81,
of 225 Plumb St., died Monday at Edgerton
- Memorial Hospital.
- She was born January 23, 1900 in Rockdale,
Wis. and moved to Milton Junction
- shortly thereafter when her father,
Dr. George E. COON, set up a medical practice there.
- She graduated from the Milton Junction
high school and Milton College and was
- married to Leland C. SHAW, Sept.
3, 1921. The couple lived in Elwood, Ind., for three years before
returning to Milton where her husband joined the faculty of Milton
College.
- Mrs. SHAW was a life member
of the Milton Junction Seventh Day Baptist Church
- and served as organist for over 50
years. She taught children's classes in the Bible School and
for some time was a trustee and acting treasurer.
- She served as assistant librarian at
Milton College for a number of years and worked
- as a ballot clerk for many elections.
She also sang in the Choral Union for several years.
- Mrs. SHAW was past president
of the Milton Woman's Club, an active member of
- the Past Presidents Club, and a member
of the Woman's Circle of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church.
- She is survived by her husband and
her brother, Dr. G. W. COON of Corona Del
- Mar, Calif., and several nieces and
