- Dennis [C.] LIPPINCOTT, 38,
of 2044 Burbank Ave., Janesville, was killed
- Thursday, June 30, when his twin-engine
Beechcraft crashed on a hilltop about two miles south of Claysville,
W. Virginia.
- A Blackhawk Airways pilot for the past
four years, LIPPINCOTT was flying a load
- of 2,400 pounds of plastic rolls from
Winchester, Virginia to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was scheduled
to stop in Indianapolis to refuel and when he failed to show
up at the refueling stop, Dick WIXOM, Blackhawk manager,
notified authorities.
- According to weather reports, some
areas in W. Virginia had experienced thunder-
- storms, although officials are still
uncertain about the cause of the plane crash.
- The plane wreckage was spotted from
the air Friday afternoon and a Maryland state
- police helicopter was brought to the
crash site to confirm the craft's identity.
- LIPPINCOTT,
a pilot for many years, was born Nov. 21, 1944, in Owatonna,
- Minn., the son of Darwin and Dorothy
STEBBINS LIPPINCOTT. He attended Dodge Center High
school, Dodge Center, Minn., and graduated from Glendale College,
Glendale, Calif., with an associate of science degree in aircraft
maintenance. He held a commercial pilot certificate with single
and multi-engine and instrument ratings.
- He married the former Leanne MARTINSEN
in Milton May 30, 1970, and had
- served in the U.S. Air Force. The couple
moved to Milton four years ago from Swea City, Iowa and Dodge
Center, Minn. He was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church,
Milton.
- Survivors include his wife, Leanne
LIPPINCOTT; one son, Jay, at home; one
- daughter, Jennifer, at home; his parents,
Darwin and Dorothy LIPPINCOTT, Lexington, Neb.; two brothers,
Daryl of Janesville and Dan of Lincoln, Neb.; and three sisters,
Diane MERCHANT of Jacksonville, Ill., Dawn DEISS
of Laramie, Wyoming, and Darcy BURDICK, Loma Linde, Calif.
- Funeral services were held Tuesday,
July 5, at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Baptist
- Church, Milton, with Rev. Herbert Saunders
officiating. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
- A memorial fund has been established
at both Milton banks and the Savings and Loan
- for a cook's cabin at Camp Wakonda,
