Gladys [Celina] DRAKE, 83, of 409 Rogers, Milton, died on Saturday, Jan. 12 at
Mercy Hospital, Janesville.
Born on October 8, 1901, in Allentown, New York, she was the daughter of Horace
and Irene POST HULETT. She married Arthur Main DRAKE on September 19, 1927.
DRAKE was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church Historical Committee for
more than 20 years, serving as its secretary for many of those years. She served as president of the Seventh Day Baptist Women's Board from 1968-71, representing the church at the Baptist World Alliance Congress in Tokyo, Japan in 1970, and Church Women United and National Council of Churches of Christ, in 1969, in Detroit. From 1970-73 she was a member of the Commission of the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference.
A treasurer of the North Central Association in 1973, DRAKE also was a member
of the Board of Trustees of the church from 1974-78. In 1980 she was a member of the special committee for the 140th anniversary of the church, plus a member of the visitation committee in 1979 and 1980.
A 1924 graduate of Milton College, DRAKE taught in high schools in Friendship,
New York, Verona and Milton.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Donald, Milton, and Gordon, Janesville; a
daughter Janice ROTE, Janesville; a sister, Ainslee NOTTINGHAM, Milton; 11 grand- children and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Seventh Day Baptist Church, Milton,
with Pastor Herb Saunders and Pastor Earl Cruzan presiding. Albrecht Funeral Home-Milton was in charge of the arrangements. [Thursday edition]
