- Dora W. (Mrs. Russell W.) BURDICK,
84, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, at
- Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls,
Wis.
- Dora [Elizabeth] WHITFORD was
born November 9, 1900, at New Market, New
- Jersey, the daughter of Dr. Myron J.
and Minnie DRAKE WHITFORD. Her early schooling
was in New Market, Dunellen and Plainfield, N.J.
- She married Russell W. BURDICK
on August 3, 1921 at New Market. They both
- attended Milton College for a year
and a half and then spent the next few years in New Jersey, returning
to Milton in 1927. They had been Milton residents since 1927,
and moved to Park Falls in the fall of 1984 to be near their
daughter, Beverly, and her husband, Dr. Stephen THORNGATE,
who is practicing surgery there.
- She was an active member of the Milton
Seventh Day Baptist Church, serving as
- Sabbath School teacher and librarian
and held various offices in the Women's Circle. For many years
she was active in the Women's Village Improvement Club. She
later took library training and served as librarian at Mercy
Hospital School of Nursing and later at Milton Public Library.
- Survivors include her husband; three
daughters, Beverly THORNGATE of Park
- Falls, Marjorie MUNNS of Rochester,
Minn. and Joan CASE of Silver Springs, Nev.; 10 grandchildren
and 11 great-grandchildren.
- A memorial service will be held on
Saturday, Oct. 19, at 4 p.m., in the Milton Seventh
- Day Baptist Church. The body will
be cremated and interment will be private. The family requests
no flowers be sent. Memorials may be made to the church or
to the Milton Public Library for additions to the biography collection.
