- Alderman Bill WHITFORD, Sr.,
58, of 305 Rogers St., died at Mercy Hospital in
- Janesville on Nov. 25, after a brief
illness.
- [William Nelson] WHITFORD was
born on Aug. 23, 1928, in Janesville, and
- married Mary Lou ZELINKA on
July 2, 1955, in Milton. A lifelong Milton area resident, he
was a 1946 graduate of Milton Union High School and attended
Milton College.
- WHITFORD
was employed for 33 years by General Motors Corporation in
- Janesville. He was a member of First
United Methodist Church, Main Hall Preservation Society of Milton
College and the Milton Cemetery Association.
- Surviving are his wife; two sons William
and Milton, both of Milton; his mother Ellen
- WHITFORD
of Janesville; three sisters, Suzanne FETHERSTON of Lynchburg,
Va., Ruth Ellen DRAHEIM of Seattle, Wash., and Catherine
CASWELL of Vienna, Va. Preceding him in death were his
father, William O. WHITFORD, and his daughter Mary Ellen.
- Funeral services were held at the First
United Methodist Church, with burial in the
- Milton Cemetery on Nov. 28. Visitation
was held at the Schneider Funeral Home in Janesville prior to
the ceremony.
- Memorials have been established in
WHITFORD's name for First United Methodist
- Church, Main Hall Preservation Society
and Boy Scouts Troop No. 417. [Thursday edition, p.

- Mrs. Julia [Ethel] JENNINGS,
92, died Sunday, Dec. 14, in Cedar Crest, Janesville,
- where she had lived the past five years.
- The former Julia MAWHINNEY was
born May 31, 1894, in Albion. She married
- George JENNINGS on Nov. 4, 1914.
He died in 1978. They had farmed many years in the Milton
area. Mrs. JENNINGS was a member of First Methodist
Church in Milton, WSCS and the Rural and Village Club.
- Surviving are two sons, Harold of McFarland
and Paul of Janesville; four daughters,
- Marjorie WENHAM and Norma Jean
FREEMAN, both of Milton, Rosalie WAGNER of Beloit
and Audree MEYER of Stoughton; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild.
- Services were held Wednesday, Dec.
17, in the First Methodist Church, Milton, with
- burial in Milton Lawns Memorial Park,
Janesville. Memorials may be made to the church or Cedar Crest.

- Eva Mae GREEN, 93, an eight-year
resident or Rock Haven, died Monday,
- Dec. 22.
- The former Eva Mae SIMMONS was
born April 1, 1893 in Rock County. She
- married Sidney GREEN on Feb.
26, 1919 in Janesville. He died on July 25, 1972. She was a lifelong
resident of Rock County, a member of the Faith United Methodist
Church, and a former Grange and U.M.W. member.
- She is survived by a son, Paul of Fort
Dodge, Iowa; a daughter, Dorothy HINTON
- of Janesville; nieces and nephews;
five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
- Services will be held Friday, Dec.
26, at 11 a.m., in Faith United Methodist Church in
- Milton with Pastor Charles Lance officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until services at the church.
Burial will be in the Milton Junction Cemetery. [Thursday
