Bessie [Florence] RICE, 102, died Saturday, June 20, at Edgerton Long Term Care
Hospital.
She was born April 4, 1885, in Harmony Township, the daughter of William L. and
Alice (GRISWOLD) CRANDALL. She married Grant RICE on Aug. 15, 1907; he died in 1966. She lived all her life in this area and taught school in her early years; was a member of the First Congregational Church U.C.C., the Ladies Aid of the Church and the Rural Community Club.
She is survived by one son, Gordon of Whitewater; one daughter, Mrs. Ardis (Harold)
BAUER; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 23, at Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton, with
burial in the Milton Cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 24]

Mrs. Lucille B[lanche] SAUNDERS, 76, of Parkview Terrace Apartments, died
Sunday, June 21, in her home after a short illness.
She was born Aug. 14, 1910, in Pittsville, Wis., the daughter of John and Pearl
ROBINSON HOFER. She married Harold SAUNDERS Jan. 23, 1931, in Rockford, Ill. She lived in Milton one year coming from Beloit. She was a homemaker and formerly employed by Caravilla Nursing Home.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Roger (Betty) SAUNDERS of Milton,
Russell (Wanda) SAUNDERS of Fort Worth, Texas, and James (Janice) SAUNDERS of Beloit; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert HOFER of Pittsville and John HOFER of Pittsville; four sisters, Mrs. Lillian ZIEMENDORF of Pittsville, Leona HOFER of South Beloit, Viola (Allen) HANSON of St. Francis, and Ruth (Orvin) HANSON of Janesville; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Leslie, Harold and
Albert.
Services were held Wednesday, June 24, at the Hanson Funeral Home, Beloit, with
Rev. Dr. Larry Correll officiating. Burial was in the East Lawn Cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 24]
