Stuart Laverne SHADEL, 88, of 19 E. Madison Ave., died Monday, March 27,
1995, at the Visiting Nurses Association Assisted Living Center in Janesville.
He was born March 28, 1906, to Franklin and Ida SHADEL of Milton. He
graduated from Milton College in 1929. He married Ethlyn SAYRE in 1930. He worked with his father in the F.L. SHADEL & Son paint contracting business until 1974. He then branched into banking. His banking interest spanned thirty years and included serving on the Board of Directors of the Janesville First National Bank. His banking endeavors expanded to include several Southern Wisconsin banks until 1976. He established a state licensed game farm in Johnstown Center and was involved there in the farming business with partner I.G. Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Ethlyn; three children, Stuart Jr., Sally and Scott; six
grandchildren: Penny, Jeffrey, Kelly, Julie, Ryan and Stephanie; and four great-grandchildren.: Brooke, Kelsey, Paige and Michael; one brother, Willard (Julie) SHADEL of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters: Olive FOOTE of Janesville, Violet SERNS of Stoughton and Betty FLEMING of Collegedale, Tenn. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jeanne.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 29, 4-8 p.m. at Albrecht Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association. [Thursday edition, p. 3]
