- Francis A[llen] "Bud" BOWEN,
82, of 61 S. Blackhawk St., Janesville, died
- Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in South Milwaukee.
- He was born March 7, 1917, in East
Aurora, N.Y., the son of Francis and Elgie
- (FATTEY) BOWEN. He
graduated from Milton College and received a master of arts degree
in journalism from the University of Wisconsin in 1941. He
married Doris ANDERSON Oct. 9, 1943, in Milton. He was
a Marine Corps dive bomber pilot and flight instructor during
WWII. From 1946 to 1954, he owned the BOWEN Printing
Company in Milton Junction, publisher of the Courier, a weekly
newspaper. He worked in the marketing department of the Parker
Pen Company from 1954 until 1982. He was an active member of
First Congregational Church of Christ, the Experimental Aircraft
Association and World War II Warbirds.
- He is survived by his wife, Doris,
of Janesville; two sons, David (Marsha) BOWEN
- of Strasburg, Penn., and Thomas (Mary)
BOWEN of Elizabethtown, Penn.; a daughter, Christina PARTINGTON
of South Milwaukee; four grandchildren: Wendy and Brian BOWEN,
and Stefanie and Samuel PARTINGTON; and a brother, Bert
(Marcella) BOWEN of East Aurora, N.Y. He was predeceased
by his parents and two brothers.
- A memorial service was held Monday,
June 21, 1999, at First Congregational United
- Church of Christ, Milton. Rev. Herbert
Saunders officiated. Albrecht Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. Memorials may be made to the missions of First
Congregational Church. [Thursday edition, p. 4]
