Alberta [Louise] (HUME) OCHS, 77, of Milton, died June 30, 2001, at Deerview
Meadows Home, Janesville, following a long illness.
She was born May 5, 1924, in Janesville, the daughter of Myron and Louise
(MULLER) GRIFFEY. She lived her entire life in the Milton/Janesville area. She married Ray HUME on July 13, 1946; he died Feb. 7, 1983. She married Kenneth OCHS on April 4, 1990.
Alberta graduated from Milton College and was listed in Who's Who in American
Colleges and Universities. She was a music teacher in the Milton School District for 30 years. She also taught in the Edgerton School District and at Milton College. She was the choir director at Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton for 35 years. Alberta was president of the Milton Junior Womens' Club and the director of the women's chorus. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Association of University Women. In 1988 she was named Milton Kiwanis Citizen of the Year.
She is survived by her husband, Ken; Joseph and Marcia (HUME) GREEN, Col.
Stephen and Phyllis (HUME) WILSON, Richard and Lynn HUME, Ronald and Kim HUME; grandchildren: Bill and Jamian (GREEN) KROHE, Courtney GREEN, Sarah and Michael WILSON, Josh and Jesse ERICKSON, Mitchel, Spencer and Cameron HUME and two great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by Jerry and Donna (OCHS) VAN HORN; Ronald and Renee
OCHS; grandchildren: Brad and Michelle (VAN HORN) BJORKGREN and Chris and Sarah (VAN HORN) SHIRES, Chad and Ke?? OCHS; Dan and Jacquie OCHS and Craig OCHS and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at the Milton Seventh Day Baptist
Church. Burial was in the Milton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dick HUME, Mitchel HUME, Gary HUME, Stephen HUME, Ron OCHS, Michael WILSON and Tom LIEDER. Honorary pallbearers were Louis SUNBY, Walden LIPPINCOTT, Ken DeVOE, Bruce CURLER and Chick GINGHAM.
Memorials may be made to the Milton School Music Department or the music ministry
at the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church. [Thursday edition, p. 4]
