- Mr. Louis D. BOSS, a well known citizen of our town,
passed away at his home three
- miles north of Milton Junction on the evening of December
24, 1917, in the fifty-third year of his age.
- He had been in poor health for some time but it was not known
that his condition was
- so serious until shortly before his death. His death came
as a great shock to his many friends.
- He was born in the town of Albion, Wis., November, 1865,
and was the only son of
- Stephen C. and Lucinda BOSS. He spent the greater
part of his life on the old home farm on the Rock River road,
near Lake Koshkonong, where he was well known and respected by
a large circle of friends and neighbors.
- As a young man he attended Milton College, nearly completing
his course, when he
- went back to help his father with the management of the farm.
- On March 4, 1908, he was married to Miss Luella BARNHART
of Milton, Wis.,
- who survives and mourns his loss. The esteem in which he
was held was highly attested by the large company of friends
and neighbors who gathered at the funeral. The services were
conducted in the home by Rev. E. D. Van Horn of Milton Junction
assisted by Pastor Randolph. Music was furnished by a male quartet
of his old college friends, consisting of Dr. E. E. CAMPBELL,
Prof. Nelson INGLIS, Rev. W. D. BURDICK and A.
M. VAN HORN. The body was laid to rest in the Milton Junction
cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 1]

- [Note: Louis' middle initial was L., not D.; he was buried
in Milton Cemetery, not Milton Junction Cemetery.]
- Mrs. [Sarah] Jane LOWRY [LOWERY], who has been
ill at the home of her brother,
- James VINCENT, for several weeks, died Tuesday. A
short service was held this forenoon at the VINCENT home
conducted by Rev. M. A. Drew, when her body was taken to her
home in Evansville where funeral services will be conducted by
her own pastor at one o'clock this afternoon. [Thursday edition,
p. 1]
