Milton Junction, Milton Twp., Rock County, Wisconsin

11
Perry Fred GARTHWAITE, son of Orson C. and Susan E. GARTHWAITE, was
born on a farm near Newville, May 5, 1872, and died in Mercy hospital at Janesville Dec. 9, 1924, in the 53rd year of his life. He was the oldest of two children. His sister Miss Mercy E. GARTHWAITE survives him.
In 1888 he was baptized by the Elder Nathan WARDNER and joined the S.D.B.
church at Milton Junction. He remained a faithful member of that church during his entire life.
He was married Nov. 8, 1894 to Hattie Julia HULL of Lima, and to them were born
three sons, Harlow Benton of Chicago, and Lester Bernard and Francis Byron of Rockford, all of whom are living.
He was preceded in death by his wife, who died at Mercy hospital, Aug. 5, 1923, and
was buried in the family plot at Milton Junction. He leaves his parents, his sister, three sons, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. F. B. GARTHWAITE of Rockford, and his grandson, Robert Byron.
He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, the I.O.O.F., and the Mystic
Workers, and also held membership in the trade and musical circles in which he moved.
Mr. GARTHWAITE was a man whose integrity and sincerity built up for him a circle
of those friends who value sterling qualities in their fellow men and who will feel keenly his absence from their activities.
A brief service will be held at the house Friday afternoon, Dec. 12, at 2 o'clock,
followed by the regular funeral service at the Milton Junction Seventh Day Baptist church at 2:30. Burial will be in the local cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
