Milton Junction Telephone

March 1931

Milton Junction, Milton Twp., Rock Co., Wisconsin

26
Mrs. Hosea W. ROOD died at her home in Milton, at 2:20 o'clock Wednesday
afternoon, March 25, at the age of eighty-three years and four months.
Ann Elizabeth, daughter of Spencer and Lucy KENT MONROE, was born at
Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, November 24, 1847, the year before Wisconsin became a state. She was one of a family of seven children all of whom, except John B. MONROE of Cadott, preceded her in death. Her childhood was spent in Sheboygan Falls and near Richford, Wisconsin.
On the 13th of October, 1866, she was married to Hosea W. ROOD, a Union
soldier in the Civil War, at Richford. To them were born four children: Louis P. H. ROOD, of Racine; Minnie May, who died in infancy, Mrs. John R. WHEELER, Boulder, Colorado, and Mrs. S. N. LOWTHER, Milton. Beside her husband and three children she is survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. ROOD came to Milton in 1877 and though Mr. ROOD was a teacher
at different places in Wisconsin, they all the time called Milton their home. From 1901 to 1924 they resided in Madison but in 1924 returned to Milton.
Mrs. ROOD was a Christian woman, quiet and retiring, to whom her home was her
kingdom. She was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist church and the Woman's Relief Corps.
A farewell service, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. L. Skaggs, will be held Saturday
afternoon at the Milton S.D.B. church at 2:30 o'clock. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
