- Mrs. Hosea W. ROOD died at her home in Milton, at
2:20 o'clock Wednesday
- afternoon, March 25, at the age of eighty-three years and
four months.
- Ann Elizabeth, daughter of Spencer and Lucy KENT MONROE,
was born at
- Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, November 24, 1847, the year before
Wisconsin became a state. She was one of a family of seven children
all of whom, except John B. MONROE of Cadott, preceded
her in death. Her childhood was spent in Sheboygan Falls and
near Richford, Wisconsin.
- On the 13th of October, 1866, she was married to Hosea W.
ROOD, a Union
- soldier in the Civil War, at Richford. To them were born
four children: Louis P. H. ROOD, of Racine; Minnie May,
who died in infancy, Mrs. John R. WHEELER, Boulder, Colorado,
and Mrs. S. N. LOWTHER, Milton. Beside her husband and
three children she is survived by four grandchildren and two
great grandchildren.
- Mr. and Mrs. ROOD came to Milton in 1877 and though
Mr. ROOD was a teacher
- at different places in Wisconsin, they all the time called
Milton their home. From 1901 to 1924 they resided in Madison
but in 1924 returned to Milton.
- Mrs. ROOD was a Christian woman, quiet and retiring,
to whom her home was her
- kingdom. She was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist church
and the Woman's Relief Corps.
- A farewell service, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. L. Skaggs,
will be held Saturday
- afternoon at the Milton S.D.B. church at 2:30 o'clock. [Thursday
