- A[mericus] P[otter] RICE, 85, practically a life-long
resident of Rock county, died
- unexpectedly following a heart attack at 5 p.m. Tuesday in
his home in Milton. He had been ill for three months.
- Born in Albion, Mich., in 1846, Mr. RICE came to Rock
county when a young man,
- beginning his farming career in the town of Harmony. Soon
after, he was married to Mary CUATT, Albion, Mich., and
they lived in the town of Harmony for eight years when they purchased
a farm in Fulton, living there until moving to Milton in 1891.
Mrs. RICE preceded him in death five years ago.
- Of the eight children born to them, four survive, Mrs. J.
W. McARTHUR and Mrs.
- C. I. KEMP, Avalon; and Mrs. Clara CROSBY and
Miss Inez RICE, Milton. Three sons preceded him in death,
two having died in infancy and Colon RICE, last March.
A daughter, Mrs. Bertha SERL, died in 1902.
- A brother, Miles RICE, Milton and a sister, Mrs. Truman
RICE, Chicago, 12
- grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.
- Funeral services will be held in the home in Milton at 2
p.m. Friday with the Rev. A. L.
