- Walter C. WILBUR, a resident of Milton the past 23
years, dropped dead in the
- garden of his home on Madison avenue Wednesday about 11:20
a.m. He had gone out to chop down sunflower stalks and the effort
precipitated an apoplectic stroke.
- Mrs. H. E. THOMAS, a neighbor, had entered her garden
at the same time and
- about five minutes later on her way back to the house found
Mr. WILBUR lying on the ground. At first she thought he
was resting in the warm sun but she called Mrs. WILBUR
who said such was not his habit. Mr. WILBUR had suffered
two other strokes and had not been well for some time.
- Walter C. WILBUR, youngest of the seven sons of George
and Angeline WILBUR,
- was born April 26, 1855, in the town of Harmony where he
lived until he moved to Milton. He was married to Sybil A. AKIN
on March 15, 1876, and two daughters were born to them - one,
Mrs. Bert ROBERTSON, lives east of Milton and the other,
Mrs. Eleanor HARDY, was killed in an automobile accident
in Milwaukee several years ago. There are two grandchildren:
Beatrice HARDY, who has always lived with Mr. and Mrs.
WILBUR, and Gladys ROBERTSON. A brother, Emerson
WILBUR lives at Whitewater.
- The funeral will be held at the Gray and Albrecht funeral
home Friday at 2 p. m., with
- Rev. Frank D. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Milton
cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
