Horace G[ordon] MAXSON, who had been in ill health the past twelve years, died
very suddenly Jan. 3rd in his home in Milton.
Funeral services were held in his home Saturday afternoon, Jan. 6th, Rev. Carroll L.
Hill officiating and being assisted by Dr. Edwin Hill. Burial was in Milton cemetery, Du Lac lodge. I.O.O.F., of which he was a member, assisting at the grave. The pallbearers were W. K. DAVIS of Waukesha, Leman ROOD of Edgerton, G. R. BOSS, S. N. LOWTHER, J. N. DALAND and Virgil SCOTT of Milton.
Out-of-town relatives who attended the service were Mr. and Mrs. Fern FULLER of
Watertown and Miss Leta FULLER of Milwaukee.
Mr. MAXSON was one of the twelve children of Varnum and Lura MAXSON and
was born July 17, 1856, in Maine Settlement, N.Y. Most of his early life was spent there except the years at Alfred University, N.Y. He joined the Seventh Day Baptist Church when 17 years old.
He came to Wisconsin in 1886 and married Fannie FULLER on September 23rd of
that year. They have lived in Milton since, with the exception of two years, when they resided in Boulder Colorado, because of his health. Mr. and Mrs. MAXSON were familiarly known as "Ma" and "Pa" MAXSON.
Surviving are his wife and two brothers, Alton MAXSON of Bellrun, Penn., and
Hartley of Rochester, N.Y. Three sisters and six brothers preceded him in death. [Thursday edition, p. 1]

Mrs. Luella Emily BARNHART BOSS, died in her home in Milton, Saturday
morning. She had been a semi-invalid for several years.
She was born in the town of Harmony, Aug. 28, 1864, the second daughter of Albert
and Emily CLARKE BARNHART. After attending Milton college she taught several years and then graduated from the Cook Co. Hospital Nurses Training School. She practiced nursing in Milton and vicinity until she became a bookkeeper in the Bank of Milton from which position she resigned to become the bride of Mr. Louis BOSS. Mr. and Mrs. BOSS lived on a farm on the River Road until his death, Dec. 25, 1917. She had been a resident of Milton since her husband's death, and before her health failed, was an active member of the Seventh-day Baptist church, the Rebekah lodge, the Women's Relief Corps and King's Daughters.
One sister survives, Mrs. George H. SAUNDERS, Milton, four nephews, Jesse
SAUNDERS and Paul SAYRE of Milton; Gerald SAYRE, Cornwall On Hudson, N.Y.; and Merton SAYRE, Roswell, N. Mexico; three nieces, E. Gladys SAUNDERS, and Mrs. Ethel SHADEL, Milton and Mrs. Ruth BENNETT, Edgerton; also a number of cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 15 at the Congregational church, conducted
by Rev. Carroll L. Hill, assisted by Prof. Edwin Shaw. Two selections were rendered by Kenneth BABCOCK, accompanied by Mrs. W. E. ROGERS. Pallbearers were O. C. CLOUSER, Bert CAREY, Arthur TRAYNOR, Byron ROOD, Merton BURDICK and A. A. CHADSEY. Interment was in the Milton cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 2]
