J. Clark CRANDALL, a resident of Lima Center, since 1926, dropped dead Friday
morning, Sept. 17th, on the lawn at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. C. TRUMAN. Mr. CRANDALL, who was taking care of the chickens, had spoken to a neighbor just a few minutes prior to the time he was noticed lying on the ground.
Joseph Clark CRANDALL was born in Fulton county, Ill., May 23, 1856, the third
child of Albert Charles and Rebecca HESS CRANDALL. In 1869, the family moved to Farina, Ill., where at the age of fifteen Clark was baptized by Pastor C. M. LEWIS and joined the Seventh Day Baptist church. He received his education in the Farina public schools.
In 1888 he came to Wisconsin to help his sister, Mrs. G. D. BURDICK. In 1891 he
married Ella LACEY of Farina and brought her to Wisconsin to live. From 1900 to 1926 they lived on a farm in the town of Harmony, when they moved to Lima Center.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a kind, thoughtful and generous
neighbor and a friend to all.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Maree TRUMAN, three grand-
daughters, Adaline, Charlotte and Gertrude TRUMAN, one grandson, Joseph BREYER, all of Lima Center; two brothers W. J. CRANDALL and A. L. CRANDALL, both of Farina, also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son Frank and two daughters, Myrtle and Mrs. Mabel
TRUMAN.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the CRANDALL funeral home
in Milton, Elder S. T. Shadel of the Seventh Day Adventist church at Whitewater, where he attended, having charge of the services, assisted by Elder A. G. Johnson, Milton Junction. Two selections, "Lead Kindly Light" and "Abide With Me" were sung by Mrs. Earl MARYOTT and Miss May BRODERSON, accompanied by Miss Muriel RASMUSSEN at the piano.
Pallbearers were Dr. G. E. CROSLEY, Will SERNS, Wilmer SAUNDERS, T. I.
PLACE, L. A. BABCOCK, and C. G. COUEY. Burial took place in the Milton Cemetery.
Relatives from away who attended the funeral were W. J. CRANDALL and Mr. and
Mrs. D. P. CRANDALL of Farina, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth CRANDALL of Iola, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. R. K. MEYER, Madison, and Mrs. Ira RECTOR of Janesville. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
