- The unexpected death of Mrs. Kathryn B. ROGERS, Milton,
Wednesday at 5:30
- p.m. following a heart attack was a severe shock to this
entire community and her many other friends. She had done her
work as usual on Monday but on Tuesday was not feeling well,
a fact which many of her friends did not know.
- Friends may call at the Crandall funeral home, Milton, Friday
night. The body will lie
- in state at the Seventh Day Baptist church, Milton, Saturday
from 1:30 to 2:30 o'clock, the time of the service. Rev. Carroll
L. Hill, who went to North Loup, Neb., on Tuesday, will return
to officiate. Burial will be in Milton.
- Kathryn, daughter of Elferd D. and Margaret STEER BLISS,
was born Aug. 13,
- 1884, on Vernal ave., Milton Junction. While she was a small
child the family moved to Milton which has since been her home.
- Last Christmas the Milton S.D.B. church gave honor to her
for forty years of faithful
- service as organist which began when she was only thirteen.
- She graduated from the school of music of Milton college
in pianoforte and later
- studied organ with Pres. W. C. DALAND of the college
and with teachers in Milwaukee and Chicago. Following the death
of Pres. DALAND in 1921, she became organ teacher at the
college. For several years she has been director of the Treble
Clef, the girls chorus of Milton college, and for many years
has been accompanist for the Milton Choral Union. For the past
three years she has been organist for the First Baptist church,
Janesville.
- Besides being active in musical circles, she participated
in all activities of the S.D.B.
- church, and was a member also of the Woman's Village Improvement
club.
- She is survived by Walter E. ROGERS, village clerk,
to whom she was married in
- 1905, a son Robert of Milton, a brother Earl BLISS
of Valier, Mont., and an aunt, Mrs. Bertha SPAFFORD, Winnebago,
Ill. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
