Wilmer James SAUNDERS, 79, prominent business man, died in his home in Milton
at 3:15 a.m., January 15, 1942. The son of Stephen C. and Julia L. SAUNDERS. He was born March 22, 1862 near Albion, Dane Co., Wisconsin.
When about twenty years of age he came to a farm near Milton with his parents.
Later moving to the village of Milton, he was employed at the W. B. MAXSON hardware for twenty-four years and F. H. HOLMES hardware for two years. He then established a tinner's shop at his residence and has continued work up to his last illness.
He has been very active in church work and was a member of the S.D.B. church at
Milton. He has acted as sexton of the Milton cemetery for a number of years.
He was an active member of I.O.O.F. Du Lac Lodge No. 322 for over forty years.
Survivors are a nephew, Jesse J. SAUNDERS and a niece, Miss Gladys
SAUNDERS, both of Milton. His sister, Mrs. Helen KELLY, who had kept house for him died April 22, 1941.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in the Gray and Albrecht
funeral home, Milton Junction. Burial will be in Milton cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
