- Wilmer James SAUNDERS, 79, prominent
business man, died in his home in Milton
- at 3:15 a.m., January 15, 1942. The
son of Stephen C. and Julia L. SAUNDERS. He was born March
22, 1862 near Albion, Dane Co., Wisconsin.
- When about twenty years of age he came
to a farm near Milton with his parents.
- Later moving to the village of Milton,
he was employed at the W. B. MAXSON hardware for twenty-four
years and F. H. HOLMES hardware for two years. He then
established a tinner's shop at his residence and has continued
work up to his last illness.
- He has been very active in church work
and was a member of the S.D.B. church at
- Milton. He has acted as sexton of the
Milton cemetery for a number of years.
- He was an active member of I.O.O.F.
Du Lac Lodge No. 322 for over forty years.
- Survivors are a nephew, Jesse J. SAUNDERS
and a niece, Miss Gladys
- SAUNDERS,
both of Milton. His sister, Mrs. Helen KELLY, who had
kept house for him died April 22, 1941.
- Funeral services will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2:30 in the Gray and Albrecht
- funeral home, Milton Junction. Burial
will be in Milton cemetery. [Thursday edition, p. 1]
