- Miss Leta LANPHERE, who had
been critically ill the past two months, died in her
- home in Milton Monday morning. Funeral
services will be held in the Milton S.D.B. church at 2:30 p.m.
today, Dec. 13, Rev. Elmo Randolph officiating with Pres. Carroll
L. Hill assisting. Burial will be in Milton cemetery with Roger
BURDICK, La Verne MARQUART, Stanley FOX,
Theron OCHS, Edward ROOD and Wm. D. BURDICK
acting as pallbearers.
- Leta Mae, daughter of Martina and Ella
LANPHERE, was born Jan. 1, 1892, at
- Flandreau, S.D., where she lived until
she was seven. The family resided in North Loup, Neb., and
Gentry, Ark., before coming to Milton in 1907. She is a graduate
of Milton high school, three year course at Whitewater and attended
Milton college. She taught in Lima in 1912-13 and in the spring
of 1914 came to the Milton graded school where she has taught
almost continuously until she became ill.
- She was a member of the local S.D.B.
church, having joined the denomination in
- Gentry. She had been a member of
Io Rebekah lodge since the spring of 1920; and was a member of
the W.V.I. club.
- She is survived by her mother, who
helped take care of her during her illness; a
- brother, Leo LANPHERE, Easton,
Pa.; other relatives and a host of friends. [Thursday edition,
