- Alanson COON was born in Plainfield,
New York, Aug. 4, 1809 and died in Milton
- Junction, Wis., July 25, 1898.
- He was the son of Daniel and Rhoda
COON and was one of nine children. His
- parents were among the leading citizens
of the community in which they lived, possessing those qualities
of character common to the age and circumstances of their times,
viz, industry, integrity and frugality. These qualities they
transmited to their children, thereby fitting them for a good
degree of success in business.
- Jan 16, 1835, Mr. COON was married
to July A. PALMITER with whom he lived
- 44 years, her death occuring May 9,
1879. To them were born two children, Herbert W. COON,
residing in Janesville, Wis., and Nettie J. who resided with
her father.
- A little more than 30 years after his
marriage he continued to reside in the vicinity of
- his birth, but in 1867 he removed his
family to Wisconsin near Milton Junction and engaged in farming
until advanced age demanded a change, when he sold his farm and
moved into the village.
- His health had been failing for several
years, finally resulting in a shock of paralysis a
- few days before his death from which
he could not rally.
- The funeral occurred from his late
residence at 2 o'clock and from the S.D.B. church
- at 2:30 this (Wednesday) afternoon
conducted by Rev. G. W. BURDICK. [Wednesday edition,
