PERRIGO, LOCAL MARINE, KILLED IN RIFLE RANGE MISHAP
- Services for Pfc. Jack PERRIGO, 18, Loves Park, killed
in a target shooting accident at Cherry
- Point near Havelock, N.C., will be held at the base Wednesday.
Memorial services will be held here in about two weeks.
- PERRIGO and another Loves Park marine, Pfc. Craig
Day, ____ Jacob St., were firing on the
- base rifle range Friday when a bullet apparently ricocheted
and struck Perrigo in the neck.
- The son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. PERRIGO, 578 Renrose
Ave., he died en route to a base
- hospital.
- His parents plan to leave Rockford today to attend services
at the base.
- Active in athletics, PERRIGO ____ won the service
lightweight division of the Rockford Golden
- Gloves tournament. He was graduated from Harlem high school
in 1954, where he played on the varsity football squad and was
active in basketball, baseball and track. He enlisted in the
Marines a month after graduation.
- He married the former Jackie FAIR, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. George FAIR, _13 Loves Park
- drive, Loves Park.
- Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Debbie Lou, born
only two days before the fatal mishap;
- his parents; a sister, DiAnne, Chicago; and grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. John H. PERRIGO, 1201 School St.; and Mrs.
Kenneth KINNA, Janesville, Wis.
