- G. Merton BURDICK, son of Rev.
George W. BURDICK and Mary WATSON BURDICK,
- was born near Utica, Dane Co., Wis.,
October 20, 1874, and died in Wisconsin General Hospital, Madison,
Wis., September 30, 1938.
- With his father and mother he moved
to Alfred, N.Y., in 1881, and two years later to Little
- Genesee, N.Y., where his father was

- before entering the Chicago College
of Dental Surgery, from which he was graduated in 1905. He practiced
dentistry in North Loup, Neb., until 1916, moving then to Milton
Junction. Three years later the condition of his health necessitated
giving up his dental practice. He was custodian of buildings
and grounds at Milton College for one year, after which he accepted
a position with the BURDICK Corporation of Milton. This
he held till last July when his poor health forced his retirement.
- He was married in September, 1900,
to Bertha LAWTON of Milton Junction. To them were
- born two children; Harold, now professor
of science in North Dakota State Teachers College at Mayville,
N.D., and Mary, at home. Doctor BURDICK's family was an
unfailing source of help and strength to him.
- Early in life Doctor BURDICK
joined the Seventh Day Baptist Church, being the youngest of
- the group in which he was baptized.
In his various places of residence he held many church offices,
being made a deacon by the church at Milton.
- He is survived by his widow and two
children, his brother, Harvey, and his sister, Bernice (Mrs.
- Archie HURLEY), both of Milton,
and by three nephews and two nieces.
- Funeral services were held in the Milton
Seventh Day Baptist church, Sunday afternoon, October
- 2, 1938, conducted by Pastor Carroll
L. Hill. Interment was in the Milton Cemetery. [p. 17-18]
- Russell E. VINCENT, son of Edward
and Lydia MAXSON VINCENT, was born at Farina,
- Ill., March 21, 1870, and died at Gentry,
Ark., September 20, 1938.
- While he was a child, his family moved
to Nortonville, Kan., where he made his home until going
- to Gentry, about 1905. In 1911, he
married Lizzie HUFFMAN FULLER, who preceded him
into rest.
- As a boy, he accepted Christ, and after
baptism united with the Seventh Day Baptist Church of
- Nortonville, later moving his membership
to North Loup, Neb.; then in 1925 he brought his membership,
together with his wife's, to the church in Gentry. In 1930 he
was ordained to the office of deacon, which he filled with credit
until he departed to be with Jesus. [p. 18]
