In Albion, Wis., on Second-day morning, March 9th, 1874, of congestion of the liver,
Mrs. Esther [nee COON], wife of Jesse SAUNDERS, in the 74th year of her age. Sister SAUNDERS was born in Petersburgh, N.Y., June 4th, 1800. Early in life she moved to Alfred, where she made a profession of religion at the age of about sixteen years, was baptized, united with the 1st Alfred church. Oct 18th, 1823 she was united by marriage to Mr. Jesse SAUNDERS, with whom she has lived and labored for half a century, providing a faithful, patient and devoted companion. As a fruit of their marriage, God gave them twelve children, three of which died before reaching the age of four years, three sons died in the service of their country during the late war, and six children still survive. Bro. and Sister SAUNDERS were active in the organization of the 2nd Alfred church, being numbered among its first members. They removed to Albion, Wis., in the year 1841, while the country was yet new, and were among the leaders in the organization of the Albion church, in 1843. Sister SAUNDERS remained a consistent and exemplary member of the militant church, until the death angel summoned her to the place prepared for her in the church triumphant. Her funeral was attended by a large circle of relatives and friends, at the Albion church, on the 11th inst., the pastor of the church officiating. J. E. N. B. [Vol. 30, No. 14, p. 3]

In Milton, Wis., March 28th, 1874, after a protracted illness, Mercy DAVIS, wife of
Jeremiah DAVIS, in the 70th year of her age. The deceased united, at the age of fifteen, with the church at Alfred, N.Y., under the ministerial labors of Eld. Daniel BABCOCK, and ever after made good her profession by a well-ordered and godly life. In 1836, her husband and family removed to Wisconsin, residing first at Milton, then at Berlin, and then at Milton again. Sister DAVIS has been a sufferer for many years from an asthmatic difficulty, which at last wore out a constitution of more than ordinary endurance. She was patient in all her suffering, supported by a firm and comfortable hope in Christ. A husband and seven children survive her. Her funeral was attended on the 30th of March, and a sermon preached on the occasion from John 17:24. L. C. R. [Vol. 30, No. 16, p. 3]
