- Elnora [P.] COON BURDICK, daughter
of Lorenzo and Emeline COON was born
- in Albion, Wis., Sept. 19, 1848, died
of consumption March 21, 1883, in the 35th year of her age.
At the early age of thirteen years, Sister BURDICK embraced
the Saviour, was baptized by Eld. A. B. BURDICK, and joined
the church at this place. July 21, 1869, she was married to
A. C. BURDICK, formerly of Rockville, R.I., with whom
she lived happily for nearly fourteen years, sanctifying the
home, and though at times a great sufferer, she was always patient,
loving, and kind, discharging faithfully the duties of wife and
mother, and in her quiet and retiring way ever sought to influence
all around her to a "higher life." She was one of
the graduates of Albion Academy, having, by her studious habits
and thorough work, won the confidence of all her associates and
teachers, and was justly entitled to the honors conferred.
Besides parents, two sisters, a husband, and many friends, she
leaves two little boys, five and three years of age respectively,
to travel the rugged ways of life without the watchful care and
faithful counsels of a loving mother. May Heaven protect them.

- At Dodge Center, Minn., March 19, 1883,
of pleuro pneumonia, after a short illness,
- Mrs. Henry DAVID, aged 53 years,
1 month, and 14 days. The subject [Adeliza] of this notice
was the daughter of Oliver and Rebecca PERRY, born Feb.
5, 1830, in Allegany county, N.Y. The writer first became acquainted
with her as the wife of B. F. BOND, of Milton, Wis., having
moved there from the east in 1855. In 1856, a small band started
to find new homes yet further west. B. F. BOND was of
that number. Mr. BOND and his wife were earnest Christian
workers, doing all they could for the cause of God and humanity.
Though there were but few of us, we forgot not God, or the
return of his weekly Sabbath, and soon, as it was then called,
the Wasioja and Ashland Church was organized of twelve members.
Mr. BOND's work was soon done, and a faithful brother
was gone. Mrs. BOND, with her two little children, returned
to friends in Milton, where she married again, and in a few short
weeks was again a widow. After several years, she was married
to Mr. DAVID, with whom and her children, she returned
to her old Minnesota home, where she was received with hearty
welcome. Possessed of a cheerful disposition, quick thought,
and great memory, ever willing to do her part in the Church,
she was one of its most valued members. We shall greatly miss
her. When told by her physician that she could not recover,
she clearly arranged her affairs with her family, giving minute
directions for her funeral and burial, sending kind words to
distant friends, giving good advice and good bye to all around
her, knowing them all until her breath, which came hard, went
out. The day of her death was the birthday of her oldest child.
The funeral sermon was preached by our pastor, Eld. H. B. Lewis,
from the text (Rev. 14: 18), "Blessed are the dead which
die in the Lord." C. [Vol. 39, No. 14, p. 5]

- Dr. Orlenzer ALLEN, son of Abram
and Dorcas ALLEN, was born in Alfred, N.Y.,
- March 17, 1826. He moved with his parents
in 1842, to Milton, Wis., and on Dec. 30, 1847, he was married
to Miss A. E. COON. In the same year he professed hope
in Christ and was baptized into the Milton Seventh-day Baptist
Church of which he continued a member. He died April 5, 1883,
of pleuro-pneumonia, after five days illness, aged 57 years,
and 19 days. The second day after his attack, in response to
an urgent call, he arose, and with help, dressed and rode a mile
to minister to a sick family, and returning exhausted, laid him
down to die. He graduated from the Rush Medical College of Chicago
in 1856, and commenced the practice of medicine in Austin, Minn.,
where he continued fourteen years, and gained a high reputation.
In 1870, on the death of his parents, he removed to Milton and
occupied the house they left. He was a physician of unusual skill;
a man of stern integrity, moral courage and frankness, and wherever
he lived, he maintained his Sabbath principles inviolate. He
leaves a widow and three sons, and joins three children who have
gone before. He leaves also three brothers - Dea. L. ALLEN,
of Milton Junction, Pres. J. ALLEN, of Alfred University,
and Judge Ormanzo ALLEN (twin brother), of Austin, Minn.,
and a sister Mrs. Emeline WOOD, of Albert Lea, Minn. The
funeral services were held in the Milton Junction Seventh-day
Baptist church, on Sabbath, April 7th. Sermon by the pastor from
Gen. 5: 24, "Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for
God took him." Rev. E. M. Dunn officiated at the house,
and Revs. W. C. WHITFORD, V. HULL, R. C. BOND,
and H. HULL, followed with appropriate remarks, after
the sermon. Thus was laid away to rest, one highly honored, and
who will be greatly missed in this country. N. W. [Vol. 39,
