January 1929

Rock County, Wisconsin

28
Harriet Ellen CLARKE, daughter of Charles and Lula RAYMOND CLARKE, was
born at Berlin, WI, Jan. 14, 1899, and died in Mercy Hospital at Janesville, WI, Jan. 13, 1929, being one day less than 30 years old.
Most of her life was spent at Milton Junction, WI. Here at the age of 12 she was
baptized and united with the Seventh Day Baptist Church, where she maintained her membership until her death.
On Oct. 19, 1920, she was married to Herbert Elmer GRAY. To them were born
three children: Charles Elmer, Paul Eugene, and Joyce Harriet. She was a devoted homemaker and mother. Her home was at once her chief care and her main joy. Her departure is the first break in the home ties of eight short years, and the surviving husband and little children will miss a hand at the helm.
She is further survived by a brother, Perl Henry CLARKE of Castle Rock, CO, and
two sisters, Mrs. Retta SPAULDING of Neilsville, WI, and Mrs. Marie SCOTT of St. Louis, MO.
Farewell services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. John Fitz Randolph in the
church Jan. 16, 1929. Interment was made in Milton Junction cemetery. [Vol. 106, No. 4, pp. 126-127]
