- Sylvia [M.] COON, daughter of
Lorenzo and Emeline SAUNDERS COON, was
- born August 9, 1853, in Albion, Wis.,
and died in Battle Creek, Mich., April 29, 1947, at the advanced
age of ninety-three years.
- The daughter of parents who took up
government land in Wisconsin as pioneer settlers
- in the 1840's, Sylvia COON grew
up in Albion, Wis., where she attended Albion Academy and was
wedded to Randolph B. THOMAS, also of Albion, on December
31, 1873. After making their first home in Albion, Mr. and
Mrs. THOMAS moved to Milton where they lived until the
death of Mr. THOMAS in July, 1919. In her later years
Mrs. THOMAS has lived in Battle Creek, Mich., with her
only surviving daughter, Mrs. B. F. JOHANSON.
- Mrs. THOMAS was a long-time
member of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church
- where, during her years in Milton,
she was respected and loved for her activity, faithfulness, and
service in kingdom work and neighborliness.
- Two children, Florence and Harry, preceded
her in death. In addition to her daughter,
- she is survived by three granddaughters,
one grandson, and two great-granddaughters.
- A farewell service was conducted by
Pastor Elmo Fitz Randolph. Burial was made in
- the Milton Cemetery. [Vol. 142,
