Mary [Catherine] (BURDICK) SUTTON of Aztec, New Mexico, died on February 12, 1989,
at the age of 77. She was born on May 20, 1911, at North Loup, Nebraska, the daughter of George Merton and Bertha (LAWTON) BURDICK.
Her early life was spent in Milton, Wisconsin, graduating from Milton College in 1936. In early
youth, she was baptized and united with the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church. With her marriage to Trevah R. SUTTON in 1939, her membership was with churches where her husband was pastor. In 1957, she and Trevah brought their membership to the Milton church until her death. During these years she served in work with children, youth, and ladies societies.
Mary served many years teaching in public schools, with 14 years as head librarian at Irvin High
School in El Paso, Texas. She received her M.S. in Library Science in 1959 at East Texas State College.
She is survived by her husband, Trevah; one daughter, Judy BRUNSON of Farmington, New
Mexico; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the United Methodist Church of Aztec, with Rev. Carl Treat
officiating. Interment was at Memory Gardens, Farmington. TRS [Vol. 211, No. 6, p. 33]
