Mildred S. HOWARD, 93, of Milton, WI., died on Nov. 25, 1998 at Memorial Community
Hospital in Edgerton, WI where she had been a long term resident since Dec. of 1997.
She was born in Gentry, AR, on May 20, 1905, the daughter of Edward C. & Grace
BABCOCK SEVERANCE. She married R. Spencer HOWARD in 1926. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Millie graduated from school in Garwin, IA., & attendind Milton College. For many years, she
worked as a receptionist/bookkeeper for Drs. Milton DAVIS & Laurence BURDICK in Milton. A member of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church, she was devoted to her faith & actively supported her church.
Millie lived in her home in Milton for 70 yrs. She mowed, shoveled, climbed ladders &
maintained her home until she broke her hip in 1997. Her creative crafts continue to be enjoyed by her friends & family far & wide.
Inside the cover of her Bible she penned the following: 'Oh God, give me the guidance to know
when to hold on & when to let go, & the grace to make right decisions in the right way at the right time."
Survivors include one son, K. Spencer; one sister, Elda HANDTKE; one grandson, Jeremy
HOWARD.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 12, 1998 at the Milton SDB Church. Burial was in the
Milton Cemetery. [Vol. ?, No. ?, p. 25]
