- Mrs. Harriet [Caroline] GALLUP [nee GRAY] died
at her residence in the town of
- Harmony Sunday morning, June 28, at 2 o'clock. Mrs. GALLUP,
daughter of Joseph and Betsey GREY [GRAY] of the
town of Floyd, Oneida county, N.Y. was born May 8, 1832. She
had been a patient sufferer since the death of her late husband,
Francis GALLUP, fifteen months ago. Mrs. GALLUP's
faithfulness to God, and her willingness to die was fully and
beautifully shown by the constant prayers which she so pathetically
uttered during her late illness. As a daughter she was dutiful
and loving, as a neighbor was a friend, as a wife the name could
not be applied to a worthier. As a mother none could prove that
tender and passionate part better. Such was the woman's life
who has now left us. Such was the great and sad loss to neighbors
and children.
- She leaves to bitterly mourn her loss three children, Henry
and Emma GALLUP of
- Harmony, and Mrs. Mary SAUNDERS of Milton. The funeral
services were held at the late residence of the deceased, Rev.
W. T. MILLAR officiating, and her remains were interred
in the family lot in the cemetery at Delavan.
