Stewart CROW

- For sixty years a resident of Rock
county and for over fifty years a member of the
- Masonic order, Calvin Stewart CROW
passed away at his home in Beloit after an illness of about two
months, and following a series of paralytic strokes. For three
terms he served as assessor for Beloit, and was interested in
politics. He had held many offices in the town of Center, where
he lived for many years prior to 1893, when he moved to Beloit.
- Mr. CROW was born in Elkton,
Columbia county [Columbiana county, Ohio], July 6,
- 1840. At the age of nine, he moved
with his parents to Wisconsin, and directly to Rock county. He
is survived by his widow and six daughters: Mrs. Mae FULLER
of Center; Mrs. Lottie FERGUSON of Beloit; Mrs. Blanche
BARLOW of Footville; Mrs. Lutie SILVERTHORN of
Chetek; and Mrs. Nettie SHAW and Mrs. Addie LYNNBOCK,
both of Beloit. A brother and two sisters survive. They are:
Henry W. CROW of Los Angeles, and Mesdames Lucy WARNER
and Matilda FORBES of Chicago, and thirteen grandchildren
and three great grandchildren. Funeral was held at his late home,
Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock. Rev. G. E. Lockhart, officiating.
Interment was at the family lot at Center [Bethel] cemetery.
Mrs. Oscar FOSTER sang "Nearer My God to Thee"
and "A Perfect Day." Beautiful flowers were in abundance.
