PIONEER OF CENTER DIES IN WASHINGTON Footville, Oct. 27.--A telegram was received here this morning telling of the death of William C. STEVENS, one of the early settlers of the town of Center and a veteran of the Civil war, which occured at a hospital in Washington, D. C., Tuesday. The body will be brought to Footville, where he has many relatives, for burial. The arrangements for the funeral have not been completed. Mr. STEVENS moved to Janesville several years ago. He lived there until he was taken to a hospital in Milwaukee, from where he was transferred to a Washington hospital. Submitter: Lori Niemuth (no relation)
