INJURIES FATAL TO WILLIAM PRESS
Former Janesville Man Dies After Being Struck by Car
Struck a week ago by an automobile while crossing the concrete road by Yost Park,
where his own car had been wrecked, William I. PRESS, 56, formerly of Janesville, died in the Beloit hospital at 3 p.m. Saturday. He was badly injured when he walked into the path of a car driven by Clayton RODWELL, Rockford, Saturday night, Aug. 18. He had escaped injury in the wreck of his own car, and had climbed out of the wreckage and walked onto the road when the accident occurred.
Mr. PRESS was born in Eckford, Mich., Dec. 2, 1871, and came to this city over 30
years ago. He had been a painter in this city since coming here. For the past year he has resided on Riverside Drive, near Beloit.
He is survived by two sons, William and Charles, both of Janesville, and one brother,
Bert, in California.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Whaley funeral home, the
Rev. R. Burton Sheppard officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
