- Mrs. Myra E[tt] SAUNDERS died
at the home of her mother, Mrs. J. C. KIDDER,
- in Milton, Saturday evening, Feb. 21.
- Mrs. SAUNDERS was born in the
town of Fulton, July 2, 1864, and was conse-
- quently in her 22d year. She had
always lived in this vicinity, and had many warm friends who
deeply mourn her untimely death. She attended Milton College
several terms, and has taught five terms of school, four of which
were taught in the school just north of Milton. She there formed
the acquaintance of Charles F. SAUNDERS, and on March
18th, 1855, not quite a year ago, they were united in marriage.
In December last he was stricken down with typhoid fever, and
on the 24th of that month his frail body was compelled to yield
to that dread disease.
- For the past five years Mrs. SAUNDERS
has been an invalid caused by an injury to
- her knee which proved incurable.
Since his death she has suffered much from that cause. Recently
an abcess formed on her lungs, which proved fatal on the 21st
inst.
- Thus in a little less that a year from
the date of their happy union, their friends are called
- to mourn the death of both. She survived
him but the brief period of 59 days.
- Mrs. SAUNDERS was quiet and
amiable in her disposition; and won the friendship
- of all with whom she associated.
- The funeral services were held at the
Congregational Church Monday at 2 o'clock,
- sermon by elder W. C. Whitford. There
was a large turnout, especially from the neighborhood of their
old home, five miles west of this village. The friends of the
deceased have the heartfelt sympathy of all. [Thursday edition]
