February 1888

Milton Twp., Rock County, Wisconsin

23
Died - In Milton, Wis., Feb. 17th, 1888, of consumption, Mrs. A. Pauline
(BURDICK) PLACE, aged 26 years and 9 months.
Lena, as she was familiarly called, was well known in this community. She was
graduated in the Teacher's Course of Milton College in 1882, and taught at Menominie, Albion and Milton until last spring when failing health compelled her retirement. December 8th, 1887, she was married to T. Irwin PLACE of Milton, but began rapidly to decline. Her funeral was held Sunday, Feb. 19th at the S.D.B. Church, Rev. E. M. Dunn preaching the sermon on the "Ministrations of Sorrow," assisted by Pres. Whitford and Rev. James Bailey. The song service was peculiarly touching, and the floral offerings, made by the young ladies of her acquaintance were very beautiful and appropriate.
Thus died in early years one about whom fond affections were entwined; but her
friends do not mourn without hope, for she early gave her heart to the Savior and died trusting in him.
"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord." [Thursday edition, p. 3]
