- Alice [Jane] GRISWOLD CRANDALL
was born in the town of Harmony, Rock
- Co., November, 1852, and died in the
town where she had always lived Feb. 28, 1899, at the age of
46 years. In 1876 she was married to Wm. CRANDALL of
the same town. Three sons and five daughters were born to them.
- Early in life she was converted and
joined the M. E. church and has ever since lived a
- consistent Christian life. She was
also a member of the Harmony W.C.T.U., where next to the home
circle her loss will be most keenly felt. Her life has been
one of great industry and usefulness. Blessed with a strong
mind and a loving disposition she has been able to do a great
deal of good in her home and in society, and her example will
be an inspiration to her surviving children.
- Funeral services were held at the family
home Friday forenoon March 3d at 11
- o'clock, conducted by her pastor Rev.
Sherwin of Milton, who spoke words of comfort and consolation
from the appropriate text found in St. Mark 11:8. The many
beautiful floral tributes and the large concourse of friends
which followed the remains to their last resting place demonstrated
in a small measure the great respect in which she was held.
- The family have the most sincere sympathy
of all their friends in this their hour of great
- affliction. [Thursday edition, p.
