December 1900

Milton Twp., Rock County, Wisconsin

6
Mrs. Sarah GRAY (nee PECKHAM), who died at the home of her son on the
morning of November 21, 1900, was born in Verona, Oneida county, New York, May 5, 1823, and on May 18, 1845, was united in marriage to Mr. Henry GRAY of the same place.
In March, 1855, they came west and settled on a farm near this village. Later they
moved to Rock River, where they lived until the death of Mr. GRAY in 1884. Mrs. GRAY still remained on the farm until 1891, when, with her son, Frank, moved to this place, where they have since resided, she caring for his motherless little daughter with untiring devotion.
In her religious life she has maintained a firm christian character, and by her life became
a practical illustration of the power of the grace of God, to bear one through the valley and shadow of death.
Mrs. GRAY, with her husband, was baptized and united with the S.D.B. church at
Rock River in an early day, where she was ever a faithful member.
She leaves four sons with their families and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss.
